Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The discussions will focus on various aspects of India-Venezuela relations, including energy security, trade, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, transportation, and renewable energy.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Rodriguez and praised her efforts in strengthening the partnership between India and Venezuela. Jaishankar expressed optimism that the meeting between Rodriguez and PM Modi would further boost bilateral cooperation.
After the meeting, Jaishankar shared his positive sentiments, stating, “Pleased to call on Acting President Delcy Rodriguez of Venezuela in New Delhi today. Deeply value her longstanding commitment to the India-Venezuela relationship. Her meeting with PM Narendra Modi will further strengthen our cooperation.”
Rodriguez’s visit to India aims to deepen the ties between the two nations. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that the visit would enhance India-Venezuela relations and build on the existing bilateral partnership.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Venezuelan delegation accompanying Rodriguez will visit various sites related to energy, pharmaceuticals, and the auto industry to understand India’s technological and industrial capabilities and explore collaboration opportunities.
India and Venezuela share a cordial relationship with a focus on energy cooperation, trade, and a joint commitment to the Global South. The visit is anticipated to reinforce bilateral ties and expand engagement across diverse sectors between the two countries.
Rodriguez assumed office as Venezuela’s interim president on January 5 following an incident involving the US and President Nicolas Maduro.
