Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in a bus accident in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. He announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for each bereaved family and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The accident involved a collision between a Bolero vehicle carrying pilgrims and a ready-mix lorry, resulting in eight fatalities and several injuries.
Authorities revealed that the victims were pilgrims from Karnataka who were returning from the Mantralayam temple. The injured individuals, numbering around 10 to 12, were promptly taken to the Emmiganur hospital for treatment. Following the collision, police teams swiftly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations and clear the wreckage.
In a separate incident in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib, a bus carrying devotees overturned, resulting in six deaths and approximately 20 injuries. The passengers, including women and children, were returning from Anandpur Sahib when the accident occurred. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical care.
