Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur on his birth anniversary, praising his simplicity and commitment to public service. Known as ‘Jan Nayak,’ Thakur served as Bihar’s Chief Minister twice, advocating for the marginalized and implementing key policies. He championed social justice, promoted education, and supported Backward Classes, offering free education up to Class 8 and enforcing prohibition in Bihar.
PM Modi, in a post, lauded Thakur’s dedication to uplifting the exploited and weaker sections of society. Thakur, posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna by the Modi Government, was hailed as a “precious gem of Maa Bharti.” Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda also paid their respects to the late leader for his contributions to social justice and service to the underprivileged.
