PM Modi praised Patnaik’s dedication to Odisha and his pivotal role in shaping the state’s growth trajectory. Notable among his achievements were the establishment of Paradip Port and the development of industrial belts like Choudwar-Barbil, which greatly enhanced Odisha’s industrial landscape. Patnaik was also a trailblazer in advocating for women’s reservations in local governance, earning him the title “Hero of Kalinga.”
Biju Patnaik’s legacy extended beyond state politics, with his contributions during World War II and on the global stage being widely acknowledged. Following his passing, he was honored by having his mortal remains draped in the national flags of India, Russia, and Indonesia, a testament to his impactful contributions and international influence.
Naveen Patnaik, Biju Patnaik’s son and the Leader of the Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, also paid heartfelt tributes to his father on his birth anniversary. He emphasized how Biju Patnaik’s ideals continue to inspire the members of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) to serve the people of Odisha selflessly. The BJD, in a tribute, hailed Biju Patnaik as a brave son of Odisha who dedicated his life to serving the nation and the state, pledging to uphold his values in their service to Odisha.
