Born on June 28, 1921, in Karimnagar, PV Narasimha Rao, an agriculturist and advocate by profession, ventured into public service and held key positions in the Andhra Pradesh government before becoming the Chief Minister of the state. Serving as India’s 9th Prime Minister from 1991 to 1996, Rao is recognized as the architect of Indian economic reforms, dismantling the restrictive License Raj and ushering in an era of economic liberalization that transformed the nation’s economy.
