Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi expressed deep sorrow over a tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district. A private bus skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in a remote mountainous area, resulting in at least eight deaths and numerous injuries.
PM Modi conveyed his condolences to the affected families and announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF for each deceased person’s next of kin. He also pledged Rs 50,000 for each injured individual. Union Minister J.P. Nadda termed the incident heartbreaking and urged BJP workers to assist in relief and rescue operations.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also expressed grief over the incident, offering prayers for the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured. The bus, carrying over 50 passengers, was en route from Shimla to Kupvi via Rajgarh when the accident occurred near Haripurdhar. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with the cause of the accident yet to be determined.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed condolences and directed authorities to provide support to the affected families and ensure proper medical care for the injured. Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur also extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and wished a swift recovery for the injured individuals.
