Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to implement the One District, One Product (ODOP) policy in West Bengal if the BJP secures victory in the upcoming state Assembly elections. Addressing a rally in Singur, Hooghly district, PM Modi emphasized the unique specialties of each district in West Bengal and highlighted the potential benefits for local residents under this policy.
Accusing the current West Bengal government of neglecting Central schemes to settle personal scores, PM Modi criticized the Trinamool Congress for hindering the state’s development. He specifically mentioned the delay in registering fishermen under the ‘Matsyajibi Yojana,’ attributing it to the state government’s lack of cooperation.
PM Modi also criticized the state government for obstructing the procurement of land for border fencing with Bangladesh, alleging that this facilitated illegal infiltration. He underscored the importance of a stable law and order situation for attracting investments, condemning the prevailing ‘mafia-raj’ and syndicate tax in West Bengal.
In his concluding remarks, PM Modi assured the voters of a BJP-led government’s commitment to establishing a corruption-free and safe environment in West Bengal, with a focus on women’s safety. He highlighted the need to prevent atrocities like those in Sandeshkhali and emphasized the voters’ role in shaping the state’s future.
