Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim upon his arrival in Kuala Lumpur for a two-day visit focused on strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing the ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’ between the two nations. Excited children holding the tricolour and the Malaysian flag greeted PM Modi at the airport.
During his visit, PM Modi emphasized the aim to deepen defense and security ties, as well as to enhance economic and innovation partnerships between India and Malaysia. This visit marks PM Modi’s third to Malaysia and the first since the elevation of the India-Malaysia bilateral relationship to a ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’ in August 2024.
In a departure statement, PM Modi highlighted the progress in the historic ties between India and Malaysia, expressing eagerness for discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to further enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He also acknowledged the significant role of the Indian diaspora in Malaysia, referring to them as a “living bridge” between the two nations.
PM Modi is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with his Malaysian counterpart, interact with the Indian community, and meet industry and business representatives during his visit. The 10th India-Malaysia CEO Forum will also take place alongside the Prime Minister’s visit.
