Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that projects exceeding Rs 30,000 crore were assessed during the recent PRAGATI session. The reviewed works spanned areas such as railways, power, and road connectivity, with discussions also covering ports, Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, and other social schemes.
The 51st PRAGATI meeting, overseen by the Prime Minister, focused on seven vital infrastructure projects in the railway, power, and road sectors across nine states. Additionally, the Ken-Betwa Link Project underwent evaluation during the session.
In the realm of power sector projects, PM Modi stressed the importance of hastening the adoption of rooftop solar in urban regions, particularly in cities, residential clusters, and public institutions. He highlighted the significance of pursuing rooftop solar initiatives aggressively to cut electricity expenses, enhance energy security, and boost clean energy usage at the household and community levels.
When scrutinizing road and port connectivity initiatives, the emphasis was placed on transforming Vadhavan Port into a model of port-led, multi-modal development. The vision entails seamless integration of various transport modes to establish a logistics ecosystem primed for the future. The project’s scope extends beyond being a mere port, aiming to become a national gateway linked through diverse transportation avenues like coastal shipping, inland waterways, dedicated freight corridors, high-speed rail connections, highways, and airport links.
