Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an article by President Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia, praising India’s advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and the strong India-Serbia relations. President Vucic’s article, published in The Indian Express, emphasizes Serbia’s interest in enhancing engagement with India, especially in technology and innovation. He commended India’s unity in diversity and highlighted the country as a model of pluralism.
President Vucic recalled his admiration for India dating back to his time in London in the 1990s, where he learned valuable lessons in humility and discipline from Indian colleagues. Disagreeing with the notion of India being a “second-tier” AI power, he lauded India’s practical approach to AI deployment in various sectors like healthcare and agriculture. The Serbia-India relationship, rooted in cooperation and mutual respect, was underscored by President Vucic, who also praised India’s support for Serbia’s sovereignty.
Vucic advocated for deeper economic engagement between Serbia and India, pointing out the untapped potential in bilateral trade. He called for enhanced connectivity, simplified trade arrangements, and increased investment in innovation-driven partnerships. The President highlighted sectors like information technology, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy as key areas for expanded cooperation. Cultural exchange and collaboration in filmmaking were also emphasized as avenues for strengthening ties between the two nations.
In his concluding remarks, President Vucic lauded India’s qualities of grit, self-belief, and perseverance, attributing these traits to PM Modi as well. He portrayed India as a nation shaping the future rather than waiting for its turn in the global order, emphasizing the country’s proactive role in defining the future landscape of technology and innovation.
