Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed the guestbook at the Istana Merdeka, the Presidential Palace of Indonesia, before his meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The two leaders aimed to boost the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in areas like energy, trade, maritime cooperation, and defense.
During their bilateral talks, Modi and Subianto discussed enhancing collaboration in defense, maritime partnerships, critical minerals, food security, and the digital economy. They also reviewed the progress achieved under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in May 2018.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi received a ceremonial welcome in Jakarta, emphasizing the focus on strengthening bilateral ties. Schoolchildren waving national flags greeted him on his way to the Istana Merdeka, where President Subianto welcomed him warmly with a hug and both countries’ national anthems played.
Sharing the grand welcome visuals, PM Modi expressed gratitude for the warm reception at the Istana Merdeka. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that Modi’s visit signifies a significant advancement in the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, enhancing cooperation across key sectors and reinforcing the strong bond between the two nations.
PM Modi, on a three-nation tour, arrived in Indonesia and was received by President Subianto at the airport. Modi appreciated the personal welcome and expressed confidence that their discussions would further strengthen bilateral relations. This visit marks Modi’s fourth to Indonesia and the first since the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
