Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to speak at a post-budget webinar themed “Agriculture and Rural Transformation” via video conferencing on Friday. The webinar, part of eight sessions under this theme, will cover sectors like agriculture, animal husbandry, dairying, fisheries, and rural livelihoods.
The focus of the webinar will be on promoting high-value agriculture by exploring the potential of crops such as cashew, coconut, sandalwood, agarwood, almonds, walnuts, and pine nuts. Additionally, discussions will revolve around Bharat Vistaar, an AI-powered Digital Public Infrastructure for Agriculture, and private sector investments in the animal husbandry value chain.
The post-budget webinar will also address topics like the development of reservoirs and Amrit Sarovars for fisheries, strengthening coastal fisheries value chains, and enhancing market access for products by rural women entrepreneurs through self-help Entrepreneurs-Marketing Avenues for Rural Transformation (SHE-Marts).
The Union Budget 2026-27 has a strong emphasis on high-value agriculture, allied sectors, and technology-led farming. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has proposed targeted interventions to boost farmer incomes, create rural employment, and modernize agricultural practices, with an allocation of Rs 1,62,671 crore for the agriculture sector.
