Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with top Union government leaders, is set to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the new Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government in Assam on Tuesday. The Chief Minister-designate, Himanta Biswa Sarma, confirmed that the event will take place at 11 a.m. on May 12 at the Veterinary College ground in Khanapara.
Sarma mentioned that the ceremony will be graced by prominent National Democratic Alliance leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president Nitin Nabin, and Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states. Security measures have been intensified at the venue in anticipation of the Prime Minister and other dignitaries’ presence.
Elaborate arrangements, such as barricades, traffic diversions, and heightened security deployments, have been implemented around the Khanapara area. Thousands of BJP workers, including grassroots karyakartas from Assam, are expected to participate in the event, reflecting the party’s strong support base in the region.
Sarma also revealed that the new government’s first Cabinet meeting will follow shortly after the swearing-in ceremony. He emphasized that fulfilling BJP’s electoral promises and advancing the development agenda will be the administration’s primary focus in its new term. The NDA’s resounding victory in the recent Assam Assembly elections paved the way for Sarma’s reappointment as Chief Minister.
The swearing-in ceremony is anticipated to draw political figures, ministers, and supporters from the Northeast and other parts of the country, positioning it as a significant political gathering in the region this year.
