Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured a BJP delegation from Kerala of his visit to the state for campaigning in the upcoming Assembly elections. He commended the party’s recent victory at the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, considering it a significant achievement for the BJP in Kerala. The Prime Minister met with 115 BJP elected representatives from various local bodies in Kerala at his official residence in New Delhi.
In the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, out of the 101 seats, the BJP secured 50 seats and, with the support of an Independent Councillor, managed to come to power, marking a breakthrough in the state’s local body politics. During the meeting, part of a governance skill development camp, PM Modi discussed Kerala’s development potential and its role in India’s overall growth trajectory. He stressed the importance of enhancing grassroots engagement and ensuring effective implementation of Central schemes at the local level.
The representatives raised concerns about development models for urban and rural bodies, improving service delivery mechanisms, and creating more job opportunities for the youth. Prime Minister Modi responded by emphasizing the significance of efficient governance, transparency, and robust public outreach efforts. He also lauded the dedication of party workers and elected members in expanding the BJP’s presence in Kerala despite challenging political scenarios.
The interaction concluded with a group photo session and a shared meal, fostering informal discussions. The Kerala representatives found the meeting encouraging and expressed confidence boosted by the Prime Minister’s commitment to actively participate in the Assembly campaign.
