Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead a significant Council of Ministers meeting at Sewa Teerth in Delhi. The gathering will assemble key members of the Union Cabinet to assess governance performance and the execution of major policy decisions. This meeting marks the first Council of Ministers session of the year, amid speculations of a potential cabinet reshuffle.
The scheduled meeting, commencing at 5 p.m., will be attended by all cabinet ministers, ministers of state with independent charge, and other ministers of state. Discussions are expected to center on the operations of various ministries, past decisions, and achieved outcomes. The review will likely encompass performance evaluations, priority setting, and potential adjustments for the upcoming months.
Government officials have hinted that a detailed review of flagship schemes and programs will be conducted, with a focus on ensuring efficient implementation and maximum public impact. Prime Minister Modi is anticipated to consider the evolving geopolitical scenario, especially the ongoing West Asia conflict and energy crisis resulting from the war, and its potential implications on India’s economy, encompassing energy prices and trade flows.
The administration has been vigilantly monitoring the unfolding circumstances and the mounting concerns related to oil prices, fuel supply, and escalating expenses. The high-level meeting coincides with the recent electoral performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry. Earlier in the day, PM Modi returned to Delhi following the successful conclusion of a diplomatic tour across five nations, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy. The tour, initiated on May 15 in the UAE and concluded on May 20 in Italy, strategically focused on securing energy resources, forging technological partnerships, and advancing India’s economic presence in Europe.
