Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to engage in bilateral discussions with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday, aiming to enhance the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. PM Modi expressed gratitude for President Prabowo’s personal reception at the airport, highlighting the significance of their talks in reinforcing mutual relations.
During the meeting, the leaders will emphasize collaboration in defense, maritime partnerships, critical minerals, food security, and the digital economy. The discussions will also assess the advancements achieved under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in May 2018. This visit marks PM Modi’s fourth trip to Indonesia and the first since the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
PM Modi mentioned plans to visit the Prambanan Temple complex in Yogyakarta with President Prabowo, underscoring the importance of cultural bonds between the two nations. Additionally, both leaders will travel to Yogyakarta to explore the Prambanan Temple complex, a significant Hindu temple and UNESCO World Heritage site in Indonesia.
The visit to the temple complex is expected to reinforce cultural connections between India and Indonesia. Notably, restoration work at the temple complex is likely to be announced during the visit. Prime Minister Modi and President Prabowo previously met in New Delhi, signing various agreements to enhance cooperation in strategic and economic sectors.
This Indonesia visit kicks off PM Modi’s tour, followed by visits to Australia and New Zealand for further high-level engagements.
