Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for the Jaipur Metro Rail Project Phase-2 during the inauguration of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Refinery at Pachpadra in Rajasthan’s Balotra district. The expansion project aims to enhance urban mobility by connecting major industrial, commercial, and residential areas in Jaipur.
The Phase-2 corridor will span 41 kilometers from Prahladpura to Todi Mod, linking key destinations like Sitapura Industrial Area, Jaipur International Airport, and Sawai Man Singh Hospital. It will feature 36 metro stations, facilitating seamless travel between industrial hubs and residential/commercial centers.
Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited (RMRCL), a joint venture between the Union government and the Rajasthan government, will oversee the project’s implementation. The initiative includes underground stations in the airport area to integrate with the existing metro network, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity.
Jaipur Metro’s Phase-2 project has received approval from the Union Cabinet, with the first construction package valued at over Rs 918.04 crore. This package encompasses the design and construction of a 12-km elevated corridor and 10 elevated stations, along with a spur line connecting to the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 depot.
Feeder bus services are also being planned to enhance regional connectivity by linking nearby towns like Chaksu and Chomu to metro stations at Prahladpura and Todi Mod. With Phase-2 completion, the daily ridership is expected to surge to nearly 2.5 lakh passengers, positioning the Metro as a crucial component of Jaipur’s urban transport network.
