Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme from Hooghly’s Tarakeswar in West Bengal. This release will provide financial aid directly to eligible farmers nationwide. In Gujarat, over 51.28 lakh farmers will benefit from this instalment, receiving more than Rs 1,025 crore in direct financial assistance.
The total transfer under this instalment will exceed Rs 18,880 crore, benefiting more than 9.44 crore farmer families across India through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). In Gujarat, the scheme’s implementation will be celebrated with a state-level event called “PM Kisan Utsav Diwas” in Gandhinagar, chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani and Minister of State Ramesh Katara will also attend this event.
As part of the national initiative, the Prime Minister will virtually release the instalment and engage with farmers across the country, including addressing beneficiaries during the event in West Bengal. Since the inception of the PM-Kisan scheme, 22 instalments have been disbursed, with over 11 crore farmers receiving cumulative assistance exceeding Rs 4.28 lakh crore nationwide.
The programme will be broadcast live at various locations, including Agricultural Science Centres, market yards, and Farmer Producer Organisations. District, taluka, and village-level events have been organized to facilitate viewing of the Prime Minister’s address. Ahead of his visit to West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi made social media posts in Bengali, detailing his upcoming programs in the state.
He highlighted that the 23rd instalment of PM-KISAN would be disbursed from Tarakeswar, benefiting farmers across India. Additionally, major Central Government schemes related to agriculture will be launched, including Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Agri Stack, National Mission on Natural Farming, and Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana. These initiatives aim to support the hardworking farmers of West Bengal.
On June 21, PM Modi is scheduled to participate in a program in Kolkata to commemorate International Yoga Day.
