Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Guwahati on February 14 for a significant program focusing on infrastructure development and political outreach. During the visit, PM Modi will inaugurate the Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge, a key project aimed at enhancing connectivity across the Brahmaputra, reducing traffic congestion, and boosting economic activities in the region.
The inauguration of the bridge is expected to strengthen links between Guwahati and northern Assam, facilitating smoother travel and improving economic prospects. Additionally, the Prime Minister will deliver 100 electric buses to the Assam government as part of efforts to promote clean urban transport and reduce carbon emissions in the area. These buses, provided by the Centre, will enhance public transport services in Guwahati and its surroundings, aligning with Assam’s green transition objectives.
PM Modi is also scheduled to address a large election-focused rally at Khanapara in Guwahati, engaging with booth-level workers, party officials, and leaders from across the state. This event underscores the Bharatiya Janata Party’s organizational efforts ahead of upcoming electoral contests and reflects the Prime Minister’s sustained involvement with Assam and the Northeast in recent years.
The upcoming visit is part of PM Modi’s continued commitment to Assam’s development and growth, following previous engagements that included initiatives in flood management, energy, tourism, and urban development, as well as outreach to various segments of society such as youth, farmers, and entrepreneurs.
