Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog, emphasized the need for states to leverage India’s young population for development. With around 70 crore Indians under 25 years old, PM Modi highlighted the importance of investing in education, skill development, and capacity-building to realize the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
India’s demographic advantage, with a significant youth population, was underscored by PM Modi as a key strength. He called for concerted efforts between the Centre and states to convert this demographic dividend into a development dividend through continuous support for education and skill enhancement initiatives. The meeting, themed “Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat@2047,” saw participation from all states and Union Territories, a first in NITI Aayog’s history.
PM Modi commended India’s resilience amid global economic uncertainties and stressed the importance of self-reliance. Encouraging the adoption of global best practices, especially in renewable energy, he emphasized the significance of cooperative federalism in achieving a developed India by 2047. The vision of Viksit Bharat, PM Modi stated, should be a collective mission spanning every level of governance, from states to villages.
In light of recent trade pacts, PM Modi urged states to create avenues for youth and MSMEs to benefit. He called for proactive steps to enable stakeholders to capitalize on trade agreements and attract investments from partner nations.
