Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a special effort by personally greeting UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Delhi airport as the latter embarked on his third official visit to India. The two leaders even shared a car ride from the airport, highlighting their enduring friendship and the strong partnership between their countries. This visit marks the UAE President’s fifth trip to India in the last decade.
PM Modi expressed his anticipation for discussions with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizing the significance of the robust India-UAE friendship. The visit is seen as a continuation of the positive momentum from recent high-level engagements, including visits by other UAE dignitaries.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the deep-rooted relations between India and the UAE, citing strong political, cultural, and economic ties. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), Local Currency Settlement (LCS) system, and Bilateral Investment Treaty have further strengthened the trade and investment partnership between the two nations. Additionally, the energy cooperation between India and the UAE is described as robust, encompassing long-term energy supply arrangements.
The ongoing visit of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is expected to pave the way for enhancing the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It offers a platform for the leaders to explore new avenues of cooperation and exchange views on regional and global matters of mutual interest, reflecting the alignment of interests between the two countries.
