Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent his best wishes to the Indian team participating in the Commonwealth Games 2026, expressing confidence in their passion and determination. The Games kicked off in Glasgow with a colorful opening ceremony officiated by King Charles III. Olympic medalists Mirabai Chanu and Lovlina Borgohain led the Indian contingent during the Parade of Nations.
India has entered a 126-member team across 13 disciplines, including para sports, aiming to uphold its strong track record at the Commonwealth Games. Notably, athletes like Neeraj Chopra, Mirabai Chanu, and Lovlina Borgohain are expected to be key medal contenders. The multi-sport event in Glasgow will see participants from 74 Commonwealth nations competing in 10 sports over 11 days.
