Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent five-nation visit has resulted in India securing an investment pipeline worth nearly $40 billion. During the visit, PM Modi engaged with over 50 multinational companies across various sectors like semiconductors, logistics, infrastructure, and technology. These companies, with a combined market valuation of $2.7 trillion to $3 trillion, are now looking to expand their presence in India to leverage the country’s economic growth and increasing domestic consumption.

Many of these global firms already have substantial investments in India, totaling around $180 billion. Notable among the commitments made during the tour is the United Arab Emirates pledging fresh investments of about $5 billion in India. The total value of investment commitments and expansion plans discussed during the visit is close to $40 billion, signaling a strong vote of confidence in India’s economic future and investment opportunities.

PM Modi’s itinerary included visits to the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy, where India signed multiple agreements and strengthened ties with these nations. The strategic partnership roadmap unveiled between India and the Netherlands focuses on trade, defense, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and green hydrogen. Additionally, India and Sweden have decided to elevate their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership level.

During the tour, PM Modi participated in the third India-Nordic Summit in Norway and engaged in bilateral discussions with Nordic leaders. Furthermore, India and Italy have established a Special Strategic Partnership following talks between PM Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. PM Modi expressed satisfaction with the visit, highlighting the broad spectrum of sectors covered in discussions with Prime Minister Meloni and emphasizing the enhanced momentum in bilateral cooperation resulting from the decision to elevate ties.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the Italy visit as a successful conclusion to PM Modi’s five-country tour, noting the significant outcomes achieved and the fresh impetus in India-Italy relations.
