On India’s 77th Republic Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s choice of headgear, a deep maroon Rajasthani-style safa (pagdi), garnered widespread admiration and media attention. The turban, adorned with intricate golden zari motifs and vibrant yellow accents, symbolized bravery and valour, reflecting Rajasthan’s rich textile heritage. Paired with a light blue bandhgala coat, navy blue kurta, and white trousers, the pagdi blended tradition, symbolism, and contemporary style.

Many saw PM Modi’s turban as a tribute to Rajasthan’s warrior legacy and India’s armed forces, resonating with themes of historical valour and national pride. The headgear, praised for its craftsmanship and color combination, went viral on social media, with users celebrating its representation of India’s diverse cultural traditions. Fashion analysts lauded the turban’s classic Rajasthani tying style, emphasizing its role in showcasing cultural pride during the Republic Day celebrations.

PM Modi’s choice of headgear has been a consistent feature of Republic Day celebrations, with this year’s turban further solidifying his tradition of using attire to symbolize respect, tradition, and contemporary leadership. The turban’s significance extended beyond personal style, becoming a powerful emblem of national heritage, unity, and collective identity.
