Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski and his wife, Anne Applebaum, are set to visit India from January 17-19, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs. Sikorski will meet with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi during his visit. Additionally, he will attend the Jaipur Literature Festival before heading to New Delhi.
The recent 11th round of Foreign Office Consultations between India and Poland in New Delhi focused on enhancing cooperation in defense, security, science, technology, cyber security, and Artificial Intelligence. The meeting, co-chaired by Secretary (West) at the MEA, Sibi George, and Polish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Wladyslaw T Bartoszewski, highlighted both countries’ commitment to combatting terrorism.
During the discussions, India and Poland emphasized the importance of concluding a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union. The meeting also reviewed progress under the India-Poland Strategic Partnership, particularly in reference to the Five Year Action Plan (2024-2028) established during PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Poland in August 2024.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently engaged in a telephonic conversation with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, expressing India’s support for a prompt resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. Both ministers discussed the need for an early cessation of hostilities and a lasting solution to the situation.
