Police and BSF announced on Thursday the successful recovery of drugs valued at Rs 12 crore from agricultural fields in a village in Jammu district. This operation marked a significant milestone in combating drug trafficking, with Jammu Police and the 101 battalion of BSF collaborating to seize a substantial quantity of high-grade narcotics suspected to be dropped by a drone.
The joint operation, conducted on the outskirts of Badadurpur village near the India-Pakistan International Border, was initiated following intelligence provided by JKP regarding a suspicious package in the fields. The recovered package, believed to have been dropped by a drone from Pakistan into Indian territory, contained multiple small packets of a heroin-like substance.
Authorities have registered a case under the NDPS Act at Police Station Bishnah and launched an investigation to identify the source and destination of the contraband. Efforts are ongoing to unravel the full scope of the drug trafficking network, with further breakthroughs anticipated. Jammu Police encourages the public to report any illegal drug-related activities, particularly in areas close to the International Border, as part of the ongoing efforts to create a drug-free and safe community.
