The crackdown on criminals in Bihar’s Samastipur district has escalated, with police conducting a significant operation early Wednesday. During the encounter, wanted criminal Prince Kumar sustained a bullet wound to his leg and was subsequently apprehended. Authorities had received confidential information about Prince Kumar, who is allegedly involved in multiple robbery and snatching cases in the district, hiding in the area with his associates.
Police, acting on the tip-off, launched a raid around 3 A.M. to capture Prince Kumar. The accused, realizing he was surrounded, opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate in self-defence. In the exchange of gunfire, Prince Kumar was injured in the leg and taken into custody by officers. Investigators reveal that the accused has been connected to various criminal activities in the district, including robbery and snatching, leading to a prolonged search by the police.
Following the encounter, Prince Kumar was admitted to Sadar Hospital in Samastipur under tight police security for medical treatment. Authorities are now focused on gathering more intelligence about his criminal network and identifying his accomplices. While senior police officials have not provided a detailed statement on the incident, the operation is considered a significant success in the district’s fight against organized crime.
This marks the third encounter incident in the last three days in Bihar. Earlier, as part of ‘Operation Langda’, Patna Police engaged in a half-encounter in the Gopalpur police station area, resulting in the shooting of the alleged mastermind, Nitish Kumar, in the leg. Additionally, Siwan police conducted a similar half encounter involving an accused linked to a robbery at a gold merchant’s outlet in the district on Monday.
