Police in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district made a significant breakthrough by uncovering a truck robbery involving medicines and apprehending a member of an inter-district criminal group. The operation, conducted in the Fakuli police station area, resulted in the retrieval of the stolen truck, medicines valued at lakhs of rupees, and the safe rescue of the driver and cleaner.
Muzaffarpur SSP Sushil Kumar disclosed that approximately 10 armed criminals intercepted a courier truck transporting medicines on the Hajipur-Jandaha main road. The criminals, at gunpoint, took the driver and cleaner hostage. While the gang drove off with the stolen truck, the driver was escorted in a luxury car, and the cleaner was kept captive inside the truck.
Following the robbery, the criminals deviated from the main road and attempted to escape towards Muzaffarpur through rural routes. A police team from Fakuli police station, during routine patrols, grew suspicious upon noticing a truck being tailed by a luxury car. When the police tried to halt both vehicles, the criminals attempted to flee.
Law enforcement swiftly cordoned off the area, leading to the immediate arrest of one suspect on the scene, while others managed to escape under the cover of darkness and through village paths. In the operation, police seized two loaded firearms, the luxury car used in the crime, and the looted truck with its medicine cargo.
The gang, as per Kumar, is a cross-district criminal network operating in Vaishali, Hajipur, and Motihari. The detained individual hails from Motihari and is linked to the pharmaceutical sector. The gang’s scheme was to transport the stolen medicines to Motihari for sale. Additional gang members have been identified, with ongoing raids to apprehend them.
SSP Kumar emphasized that the prompt police intervention not only recovered medicines worth lakhs of rupees but also safeguarded the lives of the driver and cleaner. Police units are actively pursuing operations to capture the remaining suspects.
