A police head constable lost his life when armed assailants attacked a checkpost in the Huramzai area of Pishin district in Balochistan, Pakistan. The assailants, armed with automatic weapons, opened fire on the police checkpost, prompting a retaliatory response from the police. Despite the exchange of fire, the attackers managed to escape from the scene.
Security forces quickly arrived at the site of the incident and transported the deceased constable’s body to the hospital. A search operation has been initiated to apprehend those responsible for the attack. This incident adds to a recent surge in assaults on law enforcement personnel in Pakistan, particularly in the border regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
In a separate incident on April 19, two Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel were fatally shot by unidentified assailants in the Kuram Garhi area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The FC personnel were targeted while shopping at a local market, with the assailants fleeing the scene after the attack. Similarly, on March 30, three security personnel were killed and four others injured in two distinct attacks in Balochistan, including an assault on a patrolling squad in Quetta and a gun battle at a police station in Jhal Magsi.
On the same day, two members of the police’s Eagle Squad were killed and three others injured during a motorcycle patrol in Quetta’s Eastern Bypass area. The assailants, armed with automatic weapons, opened fire on the security personnel before fleeing. In another incident, armed individuals targeted the Kotra police station in the Gandawah area of Jhal Magsi district, resulting in the death of one security personnel and injuries to three others.
Lastly, on March 18, an assistant sub-inspector of the Elite Force was fatally shot by unknown gunmen in the Mano Banda area of Gandigar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The victim, identified as Bacha Yousaf Khan, was attacked outside his residence and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
