In a significant development, the police have solved the murder case of a young man who was fatally shot in Odisha’s Jajpur district on April 6. Five individuals, including the victim’s wife, have been apprehended for their involvement in the crime. The arrested suspects comprise the deceased’s wife, Subhasree Behera also known as Sima, her alleged lover-cousins Tapas Kumar Khilar and Priti Prava Priyadarsini Khilar, along with the firearm suppliers Suraj Singh and Ankit Thakur.
The incident occurred on the night of April 6 when the victim, Samal, was returning home after closing his chicken shop. He was attacked by an assailant on a motorcycle, sustaining critical gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The police, recognizing the gravity of the situation, formed three teams to investigate the case promptly.
According to the authorities, the prime accused, Tapas, who works as a driver in Rourkela, and the suppliers of the murder weapon were apprehended from their hideout in Sundargarh district. Investigations revealed that the victim’s wife, Subhasree, had been romantically involved with one of the accused before her marriage to the deceased. She continued these relationships even after marriage, leading to a tragic outcome.
Allegedly, the victim discovered the illicit relationship between his wife and the accused, vehemently objected to it, and even confronted them. This confrontation ultimately led to a fatal altercation, resulting in the victim’s demise. The accused individuals, driven by personal motives, meticulously planned and executed the crime, leading to the victim’s untimely death.
