Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district have launched ‘Project Hawk Eye’ to enhance security measures for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 (SANJY-2026). The project includes aerial monitoring, advanced facial recognition systems, sniper deployment, and numerous CCTV cameras for comprehensive surveillance.
The main objective of ‘Project Hawk Eye’ is to ensure continuous vigilance from the sky to the ground along the entire Yatra route. Anantnag Police have implemented a multi-layered security grid that integrates advanced technology with strategic manpower deployment to enhance surveillance capabilities.
To maintain aerial surveillance, five drones are stationed at key locations for real-time monitoring and improved situational awareness. Additionally, 28 ‘Machan Morchas’ have been set up at vulnerable spots for better observation, and 22 sniper teams are strategically positioned to bolster security and response readiness.
Moreover, 416 high-resolution CCTV cameras and a Facial Recognition System (FRS) have been installed at critical points along the Yatra route to enable continuous monitoring and timely detection of suspicious activities. This initiative aims to strengthen preventive security measures and ensure the safety of all pilgrims.
Officials emphasized that ‘Project Hawk Eye’ reflects Anantnag Police’s commitment to leveraging modern technology and professional policing practices for a secure pilgrimage environment. They urge the public to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities promptly for necessary action.
