In a joint operation, authorities in Pune arrested two Bangladeshi women and a juvenile at Pune Airport as they tried to flee to Guwahati in Assam. This action is part of a crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the city. The arrests were made following specific intelligence inputs, with teams from various police stations collaborating to intercept the trio.
The operation was initiated after Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar instructed all police stations to take firm action against foreign nationals residing illegally in the city. Acting on a tip-off, Deputy Commissioner of Police Krushikesh Ravale received information about two women and a male Bangladeshi national planning to fly from Pune to Guwahati. Subsequently, a team led by senior police inspector Shashikant Chavan was deployed to the airport.
The suspects, who had come to Pune from Solapur, were apprehended before they could proceed with their travel plans. Identified as Shahinoor Begum Shaikh, aged 42, Shagurika Begum Yulia Shaikh, aged 28, and Topu alias Murad Ahmed Shaikh, a sixteen-year-old, all three individuals were found to be residing illegally in India. They have been handed over to the Vimannagar police station for further interrogation and legal procedures.
