Police in Ahmedabad have initiated an investigation following the vandalism of a private SUV by a group of men in a late-night road rage incident in the Vasna area. The incident, captured on CCTV near Pravin Nagar, showed a white vehicle stopping a black Mahindra Thar before four men armed with metal pipes and sticks attacked the vehicle without provocation. The attackers caused extensive damage to the Thar’s windscreen, windows, and body panels before fleeing the scene.
Authorities at the Vasna police station have registered a case and are currently reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the assailants and determine the motive behind the assault. A police official mentioned that they are prioritizing the case, conducting preliminary inquiries to trace the vehicle’s registration and the individuals involved through forensic analysis of the footage. As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigators are working to establish whether the attack stemmed from a personal dispute, criminal intent, or other reasons.
Witnesses reported that a police constable was in the vicinity during the incident, but official intervention occurred only after a formal report was filed. While some locals expressed shock at the violent nature of the attack in the usually bustling Vasna area, police clarified that patrol units were dispatched promptly upon receiving the complaint. This incident is part of a series of recent cases involving public disorder and vehicle vandalism in Ahmedabad, including previous instances in Vejalpur, Vastral, and near the CTM Express Highway.
