At least two police personnel were injured when a police vehicle transporting prisoners to Hangu was ambushed by unknown attackers in the Bannu area of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The incident occurred on Domel Link Road while the prisoners were en route to court for a hearing, as per sources in the Bannu police and Central Jail administration.
Following the attack, the vehicle’s driver altered the route, and the injured officers were promptly taken to a hospital for medical attention. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the assault, and security measures in the region have been bolstered, according to police sources.
The attack comes amidst a surge in assaults on law enforcement officials in Pakistan, particularly in the border regions of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This incident follows a recent bombing near a cement factory in Lakki Marwat district, where one person was killed and nine others were wounded in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion.
