The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Shahdara District Police in Delhi made a significant breakthrough in combating illegal liquor smuggling. They apprehended a liquor supplier and confiscated 1,200 quarters of illicit liquor meant for distribution in the city. Additionally, a car allegedly used for transporting the contraband was seized during the operation.
Following specific intelligence inputs received on May 15, the police conducted the operation near J&K Block, Dilshad Garden. The information indicated that an individual named Anand would arrive in a white Hyundai Xcent car to deliver the illicit liquor around 7:30 P.M. A raiding team led by Inspector Vinod Kumar successfully apprehended the accused near Main Road, J&K Block, Dilshad Garden, recovering a large quantity of illegal liquor.
A case under Sections 33 and 58 of the Delhi Excise Act was registered at Police Station Seemapuri based on the recovery. The accused, identified as Anand, a 33-year-old resident of Karkardooma, Delhi, confessed to his involvement due to financial difficulties. Police are conducting further raids to apprehend other individuals associated with the illegal liquor supply chain.
Efforts are underway to dismantle the entire network responsible for procuring, transporting, and distributing the contraband liquor. The seized liquor, labeled as ‘Race-7 Metro Liquor,’ was found in 24 boxes, with each bottle containing 180 ml. The white Hyundai Xcent car used for transportation was also confiscated by the authorities.
