In Khunti, Jharkhand, the police have made significant progress in their anti-narcotics efforts. Acting on a tip-off, a raid in the Arki police station area resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of illegal ‘doda,’ a raw material for opium production, and the arrest of two individuals. The operation, led by Superintendent of Police Manish Toppo, was based on specific information about ‘doda’ hidden at a residence in Babu Toli of Naudhi village.
A raiding team, headed by Station House Officer Praveen Kumar Tiwari, discovered 330.21 kg of ‘doda’ concealed in 21 sacks at the location. The seized material, valued at approximately Rs 49.53 lakh, was linked to Ankit Hajam alias Saju Thakur and his brother Lalu Hajam, who confessed to their involvement in the illicit trade. Subsequently, another raid led to the arrest of the second accused, Lalu Hajam, with a case registered under the NDPS Act, 1985.
The successful operation also involved SHO Tiwari, Sub-Inspector Manish Kumar, Kundan Kumar, and armed personnel from Arki police station. This achievement follows a previous seizure of ‘doda’ and opium in the Jariagarh police station area, resulting in the arrest of four individuals and their detention.
