In East Champaran, police conducted a targeted operation seizing a significant amount of illegal liquor. The operation took place near Chakbara village under Pipra police station limits along State Highway-42. A “Magic” pickup vehicle, with registration number BR28 GB 6872, was intercepted during routine checking, leading the driver and co-driver to abandon the vehicle and flee into nearby bushes.
The police, acting on specific intelligence inputs, targeted liquor smuggling from Piprakothi towards Chakia. During the operation, three pickup vehicles were stopped and searched, resulting in the discovery of a substantial quantity of illegal liquor. The seized consignment included various liquor bottles, totaling 177.6 liters of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 90 liters of country liquor.
Despite the driver and co-driver managing to escape, they have been identified, and efforts are underway to apprehend them. The police, led by SHO Anjan Kumar and supported by other personnel, have seized the vehicle and initiated legal proceedings as per the law. The swift action by the police has garnered local appreciation, making the operation a significant topic of discussion in the area.
The Bihar government, under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, continues the prohibition policy on the sale, transportation, and consumption of liquor initiated during the tenure of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in April 2016. Choudhary has affirmed his commitment to maintaining an alcohol-free Bihar and enforcing strict legal measures against violators.
