In a late-night operation in the Turkauliya area of Motihari, Bihar, police discovered Rs 24.91 lakh in cash in a white car during a routine vehicle check. Four individuals, including two Nepali nationals, were arrested in connection with the incident. The seizure took place at Nimuiya Chowk during a thorough inspection by officers from the Turkauliya Police Station.

The vehicle, coming from the Muzaffarpur side, was stopped for verification, leading to suspicions when the occupants could not provide valid documents for the cash found. Upon searching the car, police found Indian currency amounting to Rs 24,91,300, leaving the officers surprised by the unexpected discovery. All four occupants were detained on the spot and taken in for questioning at the police station.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Krishna Sahani, Subhash Kumar, Dipesh Kumar Yadav, and Prajjwal Sahani. While Krishna Sahani hails from Laxmipur in the Adapur police station area, Subhash Kumar is from Katkenwa in the Nakardei police station area. The other two accused, Dipesh Kumar Yadav and Prajjwal Sahani, are residents of Ramnagar in Nepal’s Bara district under the Simraungadh police station jurisdiction.

None of the accused could provide a satisfactory explanation about the source or intended destination of the money, nor produce any supporting documents related to the cash. As a result, all four individuals were formally arrested, and the vehicle used for transportation was confiscated. Investigators are now exploring various angles of the case, including potential hawala transactions and cross-border smuggling.

The involvement of the two Nepali nationals has raised concerns about illegal financial activities across the Indo-Nepal border. Authorities have assured that further legal actions will be taken, with a comprehensive examination of all aspects of the case. The police are particularly focused on tracing the origin and intended destination of the seized cash. The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Sampat Kumar, Joint Station In-charge of the Turkauliya Police Station, with a team including Sub-Inspectors Ramsewak Singh and Kanhaiyalal, Constable Dhananjay Kumar, and members of the armed police force.
