Over 350 individuals are facing legal consequences as police in Gautam Buddha Nagar crack down on public alcohol consumption, aiming to maintain law and order. Special operations were carried out late into Tuesday night in Noida, Central Noida, and Greater Noida. The crackdown resulted in legal action against those consuming alcohol in public, causing disturbances, and violating regulations.
Authorities highlighted that such campaigns are crucial to ensure a safe environment for citizens, as public drinking often leads to disputes and criminal incidents. The police conducted extensive checks in markets, malls, parks, main roads, and other public areas to enforce the law. Under the leadership of Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh and Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Rajiv Narayan Mishra, the drive was executed.
During the operation, police teams, including DCP Noida Saad Miya Khan, DCP Central Noida Shailendra Kumar Singh, and DCP Greater Noida Ravi Shankar Nim, patrolled and inspected various locations. Notably, the Noida Zone police took action against 126 individuals, while the Central Noida Zone recorded the highest number of actions involving 179 people. The Greater Noida Zone police also initiated legal proceedings against 64 individuals.
In total, 369 individuals across the three zones faced legal action under Section 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities stressed that public alcohol consumption disrupts peace and order, causing inconvenience to the public. They affirmed that such crackdowns will persist in the future, urging citizens to comply with the law and avoid creating disturbances in public spaces.
