Advancing the investigation into the Ketan Agarwal murder case, the police plan to conduct a ‘gait analysis’ of the second accused, Chetan Chaudhary. Chaudhary, along with Siya Goyal, is accused of murdering Agarwal at Lohagad Fort on June 18. The analysis aims to determine Chaudhary’s movements on the day of the incident.
To gather more details about the case, the police will take Chetan Chaudhary to the crime scene to reconstruct the events. They will also retrieve the trousers he wore on the day of the crime. Currently, Chaudhary is in custody at the Lonavala Rural Police Station for further investigation and legal procedures.
A Maharashtra court has granted the Pune Rural Police an additional five days of custody for Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary. The police sought an extension citing incomplete aspects of the investigation, including recreating the crime scene, tracing Chaudhary’s movements, analyzing phone conversations post-murder, and recovering evidence related to the destruction of Agarwal’s passport.
The police suspect that Siya tore and burnt Agarwal’s passport to prevent him from traveling with her to Bali. Investigators revealed that Siya and Chetan were allegedly in a relationship and saw Agarwal as an obstacle. The police also discovered that the accused had extensive phone conversations over six months, indicating a planned conspiracy leading to the murder.
During the investigation, it was found that Siya had previously attempted to push Agarwal off a cliff at Lohagad Fort, claiming she was trying to save him from a snake. The police recreated the events at the fort using a dummy to understand the sequence of events. It was initially believed that Agarwal’s death was accidental, but further investigation revealed he was pushed off the cliff.
