Political activity in Bihar has heightened as the NDA government gears up for its cabinet expansion on May 7 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Led by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the event is not just a formality but a significant political display. Governor Syed Ata Hasnain is set to administer the oath to the new ministers.
The cabinet expansion follows thorough consultations between the state leadership and the BJP’s central command. Discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah were pivotal in finalizing the ministerial lineup. Efforts to maintain coalition unity and political equilibrium were underscored through talks with key NDA leaders.
In a notable move, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary met JD(U) National President Nitish Kumar, signaling unity within the NDA alliance. The representation is expected to be balanced among alliance partners, focusing on caste equations, regional diversity, and a mix of experienced and new faces. Preparations at Gandhi Maidan indicate a grand political event rather than a routine administrative affair.
The upcoming cabinet expansion aims to reshape Bihar’s political scenario and lay the groundwork for future electoral strategies. Currently, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary holds 29 portfolios, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary oversees 10 ministries, and Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav manages eight ministries.
