A political clash has intensified between Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu as they exchange criticisms before the upcoming local body elections. The dispute arose from allegations that Chennai Mayor Priya disrespected TVK MLA Pallavi at a recent public event, sparking a broader confrontation between the two parties. State Public Works Department Minister Aadhav Arjuna criticized the DMK for allegedly disrespecting a democratically elected representative.
The tension escalated as Aadhav Arjuna challenged DMK leaders, including Udhayanidhi Stalin, predicting a defeat for the opposition in the local body polls. He confidently stated that the DMK would struggle to secure any mayoral positions in the state’s municipal corporations, particularly in Chennai. In response, DMK Organisational Secretary R.S. Bharathi dismissed the challenge, questioning Aadhav Arjuna’s political credibility and highlighting historical election outcomes in Tamil Nadu.
Bharathi emphasized the difference between local body and Assembly elections, expressing assurance in the DMK’s performance in the upcoming polls. He confidently stated that the DMK has a strong track record in local body elections and downplayed Aadhav Arjuna’s remarks. The verbal sparring between the two parties is a prelude to the anticipated intense battle as Tamil Nadu approaches the crucial local body elections.
