A security lapse during Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s visit to Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, led to a major political controversy. Congress workers attempted to block his convoy, as seen in a viral video where they ran towards his convoy with party flags, raising slogans against him. This incident raised concerns about the local administration and police’s preparedness.
The breach occurred as the Chief Minister’s convoy was en route from Lalpur Airport to the event venue. At the Gopalpur intersection, Congress workers protested, waving black flags and trying to obstruct the convoy. Despite heavy security presence, the demonstrators managed to approach the convoy, with some even disrupting traffic, as shown in the video.
Security personnel swiftly intervened, apprehended several protesters, and initiated legal action against them. The incident sparked a debate on how such a security breach could happen during the Chief Minister’s high-security visit. State Congress president Jitu Patwari responded by stating that demanding clean water is a right, and he is willing to go to jail for it.
Shahdol Collector Kedar Singh’s use of a baton against a protester added to the tension, drawing criticism from political circles. Opposition leaders criticized the administration for mishandling the situation, questioning the appropriateness of the collector’s actions. Patwari claimed that Congress workers were seeking to hand over a memorandum on clean drinking water to the Chief Minister but were allegedly beaten and detained.
