A political controversy arose when Samajwadi Party MP Ajendra Singh Lodhi reportedly made objectionable comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to strong criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Lodhi, during a protest in UP’s Mahoba, referred to PM Modi as a “desh virodhi” and used inappropriate language while criticizing the Prime Minister’s austerity appeal. The BJP condemned Lodhi’s remarks, labeling them as deeply offensive and accusing the SP leadership of promoting abusive political discourse.
National BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia expressed outrage over the language allegedly used by Ajendra Singh Lodhi, deeming it too inappropriate to repeat publicly. He emphasized that such disrespectful remarks not only insult the Prime Minister but also the citizens of India, especially those in Uttar Pradesh. Bhatia criticized the Samajwadi Party leadership, attributing the offensive language to their political culture.
Accusing the SP of resorting to abusive language due to frustration and political desperation, Bhatia mocked SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, referring to the party as a “broken bicycle” with politics centered around anarchy and hooliganism. He claimed that opposition parties, including the SP, were displaying frustration in the face of what he termed as “karmayogi leadership.” Bhatia asserted that the people of Uttar Pradesh would respond democratically to such remarks in the upcoming elections.
The BJP spokesperson defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s widespread public admiration, stating that derogatory comments from Opposition leaders would not tarnish his image. He highlighted that the language used by SP leaders revealed their political ideology and showcased the desperation of the Opposition.
