A political controversy has arisen following the Rampur Development Authority’s decision to demolish 38 out of 40 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Uttar Pradesh. The authority stated that these structures were built without obtaining the necessary approvals. The Uttar Pradesh government supported the action, citing compliance with the law, while the Samajwadi Party accused the BJP government of pursuing political vendetta.
The Rampur Development Authority has instructed the university to remove the unauthorized constructions within 15 days, warning of demolition proceedings if the order is not followed. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak emphasized the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law without exceptions, ensuring law and order prevail in all circumstances.
Minority Welfare Minister Danish Azad Ansari defended the action, alleging that the university was developed by encroaching on public property rather than for community welfare. The Samajwadi Party criticized the move, labeling the demolition order as politically motivated and discriminatory. SP MLA Ravidas Mehrotra accused the BJP government of targeting the university out of animosity, sparking discontent among the youth.
