A political controversy has arisen following recent blast incidents in Punjab’s Amritsar and Jalandhar, with BJP leaders criticizing the Aam Aadmi Party-led state government. BJP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha expressed serious concern over the blasts, labeling them as a deliberate attempt to disrupt peace in the border state. He highlighted the gravity of the situation, condemning the bomb blasts as efforts to destabilize Punjab’s peace and tranquility.
Chadha pointed to preliminary investigations and forensic assessments indicating the involvement of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He mentioned that the Punjab Police leadership, after thorough investigations and forensic analysis, attributed the incidents to the ISI. In contrast, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s statements denying ISI involvement were questioned by Chadha, who deemed them as “extremely serious.”
The BJP MP raised doubts about the Chief Minister’s stance, questioning the reasons behind giving a clean chit to the ISI. Chadha called for a focus on strengthening law and order and bringing the perpetrators to justice. Meanwhile, BJP MP Ashok Mittal also condemned the incidents, emphasizing the national significance of addressing such violent acts promptly.
Mittal stressed the importance of cooperation between the Centre and the state government to effectively tackle the situation. The twin blast incidents in Amritsar and Jalandhar have raised security concerns in Punjab, a state sensitive due to its border proximity. Security agencies have heightened surveillance and investigations, while debates over accountability and the source of the threat continue to escalate.
