Political tensions are rising in Bihar as the Lalu Prasad Yadav family prepares to leave the official residence of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi at 10 Circular Road in Patna. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son, Tej Pratap Yadav, emphasized that a government residence is not personal property and must be vacated eventually. After over two decades, Rabri Devi has been allocated a new official residence by the Bihar government, sparking fresh political debates in the state.
The initial reluctance of the RJD to vacate the bungalow at 10 Circular Road has given way to a quiet process of relocation in recent days. Tej Pratap Yadav mentioned that if the current residence is being vacated, the family will move to their private house, reiterating the necessity for occupants of government residences to vacate them eventually. The Bihar Building Construction Department issued a notice to Rabri Devi on November 25, 2025, instructing her to vacate the official residence.
Tej Pratap Yadav revealed concerns about receiving online threats and informed Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary about the issue. Additionally, he expressed worries about the law-and-order situation in Jharkhand, visiting the family of a murder victim in Patna. Accusing the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government of leniency towards criminals, Tej Pratap demanded the immediate arrest of the perpetrators to prevent further criminal activities.
