Political tensions rose regarding the Sabarimala gold theft case as State Local Self-Government Minister M.B. Rajesh criticized Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan. Rajesh questioned Satheesan’s change in stance towards the Special Investigation Team (SIT) after it hinted at questioning UDF convener Adoor Prakash.
Rajesh highlighted the Opposition’s differing reactions to the summoning of former Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran and the potential questioning of Adoor Prakash. He accused the Opposition of displaying double standards and suggested they were anxious about their leaders facing inquiries.
In response, Adoor Prakash denied reports of being summoned by the SIT, attributing the controversy to alleged political manipulation by the Chief Minister’s political secretary. Prakash emphasized his willingness to cooperate if officially summoned and clarified his involvement in a religious event at Sabarimala, distancing himself from any knowledge of gold smuggling.
