The political dispute over the proposed Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township Project at Bidadi persisted as Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy awaited Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s visit to the affected area for discussions on the project. Kumaraswamy emphasized that his stance was in support of the affected farmers, highlighting that he did not want to obstruct Bengaluru’s development.
Kumaraswamy had invited Chief Minister Shivakumar to Byramangala village for an on-site discussion with residents facing potential impact from the township project. Expressing readiness to stand with the farmers, Kumaraswamy underscored the importance of resolving the issue amicably and with the farmers’ interests in mind.
Questioning the government’s approach, Kumaraswamy stressed the necessity of dialogue and consensus in dealing with farmer displacement issues. He reiterated his support for the farmers’ cause and emphasized the need for legal resolution of the matter, pointing out discrepancies in compensation claims and the project’s impact on farmers.
Kumaraswamy, while expressing his commitment to the farmers’ agitation, called for adherence to legal procedures for resolving the conflict. He highlighted the importance of addressing existing challenges in Bengaluru before embarking on new development projects, emphasizing the need for comprehensive solutions to the city’s issues.
