Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez has refuted suggestions that Cristiano Ronaldo is fixated on scoring 1,000 goals, emphasizing Ronaldo’s focus on team performance over personal milestones. Despite a recent muscle injury sidelining him, Ronaldo, with over 950 career goals, continues to excel for both Portugal and Al Nassr. Martinez highlighted Ronaldo’s team-oriented approach during tournaments, emphasizing collective success over individual achievements.

Rejecting the notion of Ronaldo pursuing personal milestones, Martinez pointed out the veteran forward’s commitment to team success, especially among senior players. Martinez reiterated that discussions about personal targets are irrelevant to Ronaldo’s mindset, emphasizing his consistent legacy regardless of goal tallies. Portugal, led by Ronaldo, is gearing up for the FIFA World Cup 2026, aiming for their first World Cup trophy in a challenging group with Uzbekistan and Colombia.
